Pierce Boston

Completed in 2018, The Pierce is a 30-story residential tower with street-level retail space located at the western gateway to The Fenway at the intersection of Brookline Avenue and Boylston Street. It is the tallest building in Massachusetts west of the Back Bay.

The site’s relatively small, triangular footprint and the building’s concrete-framing resulted in high foundation loads, which, given the site’s location in an area with a thick deposit of Boston Blue Clay resulted in the structure being supported on deep pile foundations driven to glacial till/bedrock. A portion of the building contained three levels below-grade which connected into an adjacent existing parking garage. Steel sheet piles and internal bracing were required to construct the below-grade levels.
