This milestone offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the trusted relationships we have built throughout our history—contributing our geotechnical and geoenvironmental expertise to over 7,000 projects for more than 4,000 clients in the Greater Boston area and the Northeast.
Since our founding in 1976, McPhail has welcomed the technical challenges presented by projects of every scale—public or private—and has remained dedicated to helping clients bring their visions to life through practical, reliable, and innovative engineering solutions.

For fifty years McPhail Associates has been providing geotechnical engineering, geoenvironmental engineering, geo-exchange systems (aka geothermal) engineering, and contractor support services to architects, owners, contractors, institutions, and developers. Remaining true to the mission of our founder, Robert E. McPhail, we continue to be creative, practical, respected problem solvers, always keeping our clients’ best interest and vision in mind. Our success is due to our team of exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable leaders who collaborate effectively to deliver comprehensive solutions to our clients’ development plans.
